Course Information
Description	Topics may include introductory treatments of sets, logic, number systems, number theory, relations, functions, probability and statistics. Appropriate applications are included.
Prerequisites	Successful completion of or concurrent enrollment in DMTH 0132, or SAT math score of 500 or higher, or ACT Math score of 19 or higher, or a TSI math score of 350 or higher, or any other applicable exemption that qualifies the student for the class.
Learning Outcomes	Upon successful completion of this course students will: 1. Apply the language of notation and sets. Determine the validity of an argument or statement and provide mathematical evidence. Demonstrate fundamental probability/counting techniques and apply those techniques to solve problems. Determination of Final Grade	Tests: 60% Quizzes: 25% Homework: 15% All homework will be done on computers using MyMathLabs. It will be embedded in you Blackboard. Your Lamarpa username for MyMathLabs is your username, your birthday is the password. Example: June 5, 2001 would be Jun052001. The password is case sensitive and has no spaces in it. You may have free access until September 5, 2021.
Course Policies
Instructor Policies	Because this is an online class, we will not see each other much face to face. There will be an Orientation Meeting on campus scheduled during the second week of class one evening. I will keep you informed as soon as the date and location is set for sure. Please note the "office hours" listed at the beginning of the syllabus. I will be available for calls, emails and texts at that time. Taking pictures of your work and sending them so I can see what you are doing is a great way to get help if you are struggling on problems. You can text and email 24/7 and I will reply as soon as possible. I do check both very regularly. Please limit phone calls to the "office hours" and days.
Attendance Policy	Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. There will not be any makeup quizzes or makeup tests. A student's lowest test grade will replace a first missed test. A student will receive a zero for any missed quiz or a second missed test . ALL QUIZZES and TESTS are REQUIRED!
Academic Honesty	Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
Facility Policies	No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
